If the memory requirement is more than physically available on the machine, the simulation will crash.
When a model requires close to the physical memory available on the system there is no performance degradation unless the user allows memory to be paged (i.e., instructs the OS to use secondary memory like the hard disk). Also, in such a case there may be an advantage to setting the environment variable MSC_ADAMS_LARGE_MODEL in Adams Solver Advanced Settings.
