Tips on Entering Object Names in Text Boxes.
Gear Name | If creating gear geometry, enter a name for it. If modifying gear geometry, enter its database name. |
General Part | Enter the name of the part that will own the gear geometry. |
Construction Frame | Specify a construction frame to define the gear. Learn about Construction Frames. |
Method | Select one of the following: ■by entering size ■scaled off variable |
If you select by entering size, Adams Driveline displays the following options:
Top Radius | Specify the top radius of the gear geometry. To create spur gear geometry, this should be equal to the Pitch Radius. To create bevel gear geometry, this should be larger or smaller than the Pitch Radius. |
Pitch Radius | Specify the pitch radius of the gear geometry. |
If you select scaled off variable, Adams Driveline displays the following options:
Pitch Radius PV | Specify a parameter variable to define the pitch radius. |
Pitch/Top Ratio | Enter the ratio of pitch radius to top radius. |
Length | Enter the length of the gear geometry in the Z direction of the selected construction frame. |
Shaft | Select one of the following: ■by entering size ■scaled off link |
If you select by entering size, Adams Driveline displays the following option:
Diameter | Enter the diameter of the shaft (and therefore the size of the hole in the gear geometry). |
If you select scaled off link, Adams Driveline displays the following option:
Link | Select the geometry that defines the shaft on which the gear will be mounted. The link diameter defines the size of the hole in the gear geometry. |
Color | Select a color for the gear geometry graphic. |
Calculate Mass Properties of General Part | Select to calculate the mass and inertia properties of the general part. |
If you select Calculate Mass Properties of General Part, Adams Driveline enables the following option:
Density | Select one of the following: ■Material - Calculate the mass and inertia properties from the current density value for the selected material. ■User-Entered - Calculate the mass and inertia properties from a user-entered density. |
If you set Density to Material, Adams Driveline displays the following option:
Material Type | Select a material type from the list of materials currently defined. When you select a material, your template-based product uses the density defined for that material to calculate the general part's mass properties. |
If you set Density to User-Entered, Adams Driveline displays the following option:
Density Value | Enter a density that your template-based product will use to calculate the general part's mass properties. |
![]() | Select to display a dialog box where you can add multi-line comments to any entity, to describe its purpose and function. Adams Driveline displays different comments dialog boxes, depending on the entity type for which you want to record comments: ■If recording comments for modeling entities in Standard Interface, your template-based product displays the Entity Comments dialog box. ■If recording comments for any other entity type, your template-based product displays the Modify Comment dialog box. Learn about Recording Comments. |
