Appendix B: Limitations of Adams MaxFlex

The following problem/discipline types are not supported by the Adams nonlinear flexible body:
Multi-physics: no representation of acoustic, thermal or fluids modeling is supported in the flexible body definition
Post-buckling: plastic strains and the onset of buckling can be successfully represented, but analysis deep into the buckling regime is not supported. After the structure has buckled the analysis of the nonlinear flexible body will likely fail to converge.
Furthermore...
Nonlinear flexible bodies do not support contact directly with other bodies (rigid, linear flexible or FE Part). A workaround would be to affix "dummy" rigid bodies to the nonlinear flexible body and use geometry associated with the rigid bodies for contact defintions.
Models containing nonlinear flexible bodies are not supported by Adams Linear.
Models containing nonlinear flexible bodies do not support Adams Controls usage except for external system library (ESL) import mode.
The Adams Solver SAVE and RELOAD commands do not support models containing nonlinear flexible bodies.
Animation from .gra files is not supported by nonlinear flexible bodies; use the .res file instead.
Models containing nonlinear flexible bodies will automatically set the integrator order (kmax) to 1 because it is recommended for the most robust simulation of nonlinear flexible bodies. A message notifying the user of this setting change is issued in the Adams Solver output and .msg file.
