The F-ratio is used in the regression
ANOVA to test the
Significance of the regression. The F-ratio is computed as the ratio of the mean square variation due to the regression model (MSM or MSR) to the mean square variation due to error (MSE). The F-ratio is compared to an F-distribution to test the hypothesis that all coefficients are zero. High values for the F-ratio will lead to the rejection of this hypothesis and, therefore, suggest that the regression is significant and the model is useful.
