Detailed Spur Gear Method

The detailed spur gear module calculates the contact forces by using the involute function (which describes the tooth profile) and the contact properties specified by you.
By measuring the relative displacement and velocity between the two mating gears, together with the tooth profile information, it is possible to calculate when and where contacts between the gears occurs (up to 3 teeth can be in contact at the same time based on contact ratio). The number of contacts (based on contact ratio), position of contact and angle of contact (based on involute) is derived from relative position of gear centers.
The contact subroutine uses IMPACT function to calculate the contact force between gears. To get a full description of all contact parameters please refer the IMPACT function.
This concept makes detailed gear method computationally efficient and therefore suitable to use in the complex gear applications like complete manual and automatic gearboxes. The gear force is modeled with an Adams GFORCE.
In Adams View (and Adams Car), the name of the GFORCE object will be .model.GFO_SPUR_'Gear Name', where 'Gear Name' is the name you enter when creating the gear pair.
