Adams Chassis to Car Database Migration

Adams Chassis to Car Database provides for conversion of Adams Chassis system and subsystem files into Adams Car assembly and subsystem files respectively.

 

To migrate the Adams Chassis Database (.vdb), use the Migrate Chassis Database utility.

The conversion of Adams Chassis subsystem file is based on the mapping file (.csv) present under <install_dir>\achassis\map. The mapping file provided with the installation uses templates from 'acar_shared' and 'acar_concept' databases. You can create mapping file by referencing appropriate template. To create your map file see Example Mapping File.

During the conversion of the Adams Chassis system (assembly) file, some messages about the conversion process will be echoed to the screen. Some important notes about these messages:

By default, the mapped templates in Adams Car use a separate stabilizer bar template. During model conversion, the stabilizer bar properties will be extracted from the subsystem and written to a new stabilizer bar subsystem file for use in Adams Car.

The conversion will list any entities from the Adams Chassis subsystem file that were not mapped into the new Adams Car subsystem. This is informational, but if these entities are required, it may be necessary to modify the template and/or mapping file and re-read the subsystem file.

If the template in Adams Car had parametrically defined orientation, but the Adams Chassis model has these entities as user-defined a warning message will appear. The orientations from the Adams Chassis model will not be used.

Many parameters defined in the Adams Chassis system file cannot be mapped into Adams Car. A message will inform the user of any of these un-mapped parameters which may need to be updated directly in the template and/or testrig.
