Welcome to Emag AT

Introduction

Adams/Emag AT (Advanced Technology) is a user-friendly and efficient design and simulation process for electric motors, integrated in the motion tool Adams from Hexagon. Emag AT can be used for evaluating excitation from electromagnetic field acting between rotor and stator resp. to model realistic drive or break torque during engineering process.
The Emag AT plug-in needs to be loaded in current Adams View session; see under Tools Plugin manager in the main menu bar.
Figure 1 Modeling Process
The modeling process of Emag AT consists of Magnetic force preprocessing, FE preprocessing, Adams modeling and simulation step as shown in Figure 1.
Input of Adams/Emag AT is limited to common engineering data for electric motor, such as number of rotor poles, number of rotor packs and so on. Besides these common parameters one needs to provide results from magnetic field calculation and structural models of rotor and stator.
The electromagnetic force is evaluated for the current position between rotor and stator, angular speed of rotor and demanded torque in any valid Adams solution (kinematic, quasi-static, dynamics, linear). The forces acting on rotor and stator are precomputed during preprocessing step for discrete values of relative angular position, angular velocity and torque demand on rotor and stored in *.EMF file together with information about modal deflections and surface grids positions for stator and rotor. This enables to calculate very effectively the modal load vector acting on rotor and stator flexible structures.
