Import - Romax Model

File Import Romax Model (*.R2A)    Shared Dialog Box
Imports a Romax Model file (*.R2A, *.REXS) into Adams View. After importing, Adams View either imports all components into the selected existing model or creates a new model as per the user's selection. In the case of a new model it adds the model to the current Modelling database.

Note:
If Adams View encounters special characters or spaces in the name of the Romax entities those will be converted to '_'.
For file type *.REXS, the RomaxDT software version 2023.1 (or greater) should be available on the machine.

For the option:
Do the following:
File Type
Set it to Romax Model (*.R2A, *.REXS)
File to Read
Enter the name of the file that you want to import.

Tips on Entering File Names in Text Boxes.
Model Name
Enter the name of the model into which you want to import the Romax entities.
New Model
Enter a name for the new model to be created. You can enter up to 80 alphanumeric characters. You cannot include special characters, such as spaces or periods.
Note: If New Model is selected and no name has been specified then Adams will automatically choose a unique model name, for example, “.MODEL_2”.
Location
Specify the translational position where the Romax entities are to be located, relative to the Adams global coordinate system. These coordinates can be relative to any other coordinate system defined in the model by specifying an object in the “Relative To” field.

By default, you enter Cartesian (x,y,z) coordinates. You can change the convention for entering translational positions. Learn about Setting Default Coordinate System.
Orientation
Specify the angular position where the Romax entities are to be oriented relative to the Adams global coordinate system. These orientation coordinates can be relative to any other coordinate system defined in the model by specifying an object in the “Relative To” field.

Adams View orients the coordinate system starting from the initial coordinate system and applying three successive rotations. By default, you supply body-fixed 313 angles. You can change the convention for entering orientation angles. Learn about Setting Default Coordinate System.
Relative To
Enter the coordinate system relative to which the translated Romax entities will be defined. The coordinates you specified in the Location and Orientation text boxes are relative to the coordinate system that you specify. You can specify a coordinate system, part, or model. If left blank, then the global coordinate system is used.

Note:
Upon import of a ‘*.R2A’ file input property files for Gear AT and Bearing AT, representations are written to the working directory for those gears and bearings modelled in Romax using the Detailed Helical Gear and Rolling Bearing methodology.
Upon import of a ‘*.REXS’ file input, it is converted into *.R2A file type in the background if it detects RomaxDT software version 2023.1 (or greater) on the machine. Then it will translate the R2A model to Adams model.
