Create/Modify Leaf Spring

Template Builder) Build Leaf Spring New/Modify            Shared Dialog Box
Creates or modifies a leaf spring..

For the option:
Do the following:
Leaf Spring Name
If creating a leaf spring, enter a string that defines its name.

If modifying a leaf spring, select a part of the leaf spring parts.
Leaf Spring Property
Select a leaf spring property file (.ltf).
Select to display the contents of the property file in the Information window.
Select to modify the leaf spring property file in the Leaf Spring Editor.
The following toggle button is available if major role of template is "leaf_spring".
Include Axle Connection
If toggle button is selected then mount part ("mt[lr]_axle") and input communicator (ci[lr]_axle) will be created. This mount part is connected to leafseat through bushing.

By default, toggle button is unselected, an output communicator ("co[lr]_leaf_to_axle") of type mount will be created. This will be used to communicate with the mount part (axle) from the suspension template.
The following field is active if major role of template is "suspension".
Axle Part
Specify the part that Adams Car should attach to the center of the leaf ("lf[lr]_leafseat").
Coordinate References
Enter the coordinate reference locations that will define the front and rear connection points to the chassis. In modify mode, it is only possible to modify the locations themselves, not the references.
If Auxiliary Leaf flag is set to “Yes” in Leaf Spring Editor under the Leaves table, Auxiliary Front Contact and Auxiliary Rear Contact fields will be enabled for inputs.
If Shackle Option is set to “Yes” in Leaf Spring Editor under the Shackle table, enter connections for “Leaf to Frame” and “Shackle to Frame”.
If Shackle Option is set to “No” in Leaf Spring Editor under the Shackle table, enter connections for “Front Leaf to Frame” and “Rear Leaf to Frame”.
Connection Specification
Enter the bushing property files that define the three bushings in the leaf spring model. These bushings connect the leaf spring to the frame, leaf spring to the shackle, and shackle to the frame. In modify mode, it is only possible to modify the property themselves.
If Shackle Option is set to “No” in Leaf Spring Editor under the Shackle table, enter two property files for “Front Leaf to Frame Property” and “Rear Leaf to Frame Property”
Color
Select the color for the nonlinear beam graphics.
If you are modifying a leaf spring, the following field is active:
Regenerate Leaf Spring Topology
Select from the following options:
Yes: Regenerates leaf spring topology
No: Do not regenerate leaf spring topology
Auto: Let Adams Car determine whether topology should be regenerated
This option gives the user control over the process of regenerating the leaf spring topology.
For example, when selecting the “Auto” option, Adams Car will not regenerate for non-topology relevant changes like e.g. colors.
The default for this option is “Auto” and will be restored whenever the dialog is (re-)displayed and its value is only applied to the impending modify operation.
Sync Template: This option synchronizes the template as per the subsystem data. This avoids regeneration of the leaf spring when the subsystem is opened. The template will be saved in the default writable database, and the subsystem will be updated to refer to the new template. This option is available only in Standard Interface mode.
Select to display a dialog box where you can add multi-line comments to any entity, to describe its purpose and function. Your template-based product displays different comments dialog boxes, depending on the entity type for which you want to record comments:
If recording comments for modeling entities in Standard Interface, your template-based product displays the Entity Comments dialog box.
If recording comments for any other entity type, your template-based product displays the Modify Comment dialog box.
Learn about Recording Comments.

Note:
It is recommended to avoid modification of leaf spring object at standard interface level to change leaf spring topology from "no shackle" to "shackle". While doing this a bushing between "leaf to shackle" doesn't exist and so won't create expected leaf spring object.
You can change leaf spring topology from "shackle" to "no shackle" at standard interface, however required to save the subsystem and then do "Sync Template" to keep subsystem and template in sync.
It is highly recommend to keep separate template for "shackle" and "no shackle" type of leaf spring.
